Sussex BikeSafe is a partnership between Sussex Police and other road safety professionals, including Sussex Safer Roads Partnership. The scheme is a national police led initiative which seeks to engage with motorcyclists in a conflict free environment in an attempt to reduce those killed or seriously injured on the roads. The aim is to give riders, using the roads of Sussex, an insight into what can be achieved by exploring advanced riding techniques.
The friendly, down to earth team are experienced emergency service personnel who are passionate about riding and look to provide those riders who attend the workshops with an informative and enjoyable day. If you are a rider and are serious about staying safe on the roads or fancy polishing the skills that you already possess, book onto a Sussex BikeSafe course now and have a great day out.
We use experienced, operational Police Motorcyclists who use these skills daily. We are here to help you achieve what you set out to cover on this course. Make the most of their expertise and tailor it to your ride.
Sussex Bike Safe led, PC Pete May says:
“No matter how long you have been riding it is always good to have additional training whenever possible. A Bikesafe course is the perfect way to gain that learning or to bridge the gap to advanced training. Get yourself booked on a course and ride with serving Police officers who will give you guidance and feedback on your riding. Whether you need to corner better or just need a confidence boost then we are here to help.
Following a theory input you will be taken out on a ride to put that theory into practice. With double the courses running in 2023 than in previous years there is plenty of availability so visit www.bikesafe.co.uk/sussex to book! Once completed a range of discounts will be open to you from insurers and dealerships but more importantly you will have a much safer, smoother ride!
Your safety on two wheels,
Pete”

SSRP attended the morning session on Sunday 11th of June. Whilst there we were able to speak to those signed up for the course and gain feedback.
Paul Ford, a keen rider attended and said:
‘The ride was really great! I was a bit apprehensive that I had a Police motorcyclist behind me to begin with, however after 40 years of riding I feel far more confident following the course and feel as though I have refreshed my skills. I would highly recommend this course to a friend and other riders!’
Joe Standing, another participant said:
‘The course was really informative and fun! I would recommend it to anyone who is keen to develop. My biggest learning was to position myself earlier for corners and bends’.
