Festival of Speed – July 2024

Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) attended the annual Festival of Speed, held at the Goodwood estate, West Sussex, between the 11th and the 14th of July 2024. SSRP had over 30 members of staff from 9 organisations across the 4 days at Goodwood, highlighting the collaborative, team ethic among Partners, as well as the brilliant work of external agencies in working as part of the SSRP team.

South of England Show – June 2024

Sussex Safer Roads Partnership have got a long standing relationship with the showground, being invited to many of their events to provide their visitors with much needed road safety advice. The event appeals to all ages, meaning there is a variety of road users that attend. Working in collaboration with Sussex Police’s Rural Crime Team, we can support residents of Sussex and visitors, the opportunity to speak to representatives from a wealth of organisations. We had Partners from West Sussex East Sussex County Councils join us at the event, brining a wealth of knowledge on specialised topics including school crossing patrols, cycle safety courses for schoolchildren, potholes and much more. Listening and supporting those living in rural communities and aiding them with road safety-related support highlights the importance of our attendance.

ROADPEACE CHALLENGE – MAY 2024

Sussex Safer Roads Partnership staff were joined by colleagues from Brighton and Hove City Council, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Sussex Police, and West Sussex County Council at Hove Lawns for a minute’s silence to remember the victims of road traffic collisions. Partners collectively walked over 200 miles from two locations, with journeys ending at the Peace Statue in Hove.

Exchanging Places – March 2024

Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) supported West Sussex County Council, at a cycle safety event on Wednesday 20th of March, 11am-3pm, at South Street Square, Worthing. The ‘Exchanging Places’ engagements aim to address the most common cause of serious injury and death to cyclists – collisions involving HGVs. A West Sussex County Council cycle instructor was present alongside SSRPs Programme Team, providing face to face road safety messaging and support.
