National Highways trial of new safety cameras

Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) and Sussex Police are excited to be part of the National Highways trial, using artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled cameras to record possible mobile phone and seatbelt offences in Sussex. This trial aims to gather additional information, building on the knowledge and understanding of how this technology could be used to increase and improve road safety and as well as develop understanding about how this might be used in the future for enforcement activity.

TiE 2023 Tour

Between Monday 13th and Friday 17th October officers from Surrey’s Vanguard Road Safety Team worked collaboratively with Surrey and Sussex’s Roads Policing Unit, Commercial Vehicle Unit and Road Safety Partnerships (Sussex Safer Roads Partnership and Surrey Road Safe) to carry out a special operation targeting distracted drivers across the A3, M25, A23 and M23.

Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) attended this year's British Heart Foundation’s London to Brighton off-road cycling event. A team of road safety professionals, including a colleague from Brighton and Hove City Council, where on hand to support any local and general cycling concerns. Over 2000 riders took on 61 miles of superb views and technical terrain, conquering Europe's biggest charity mountain bike event to fund lifesaving research!
