Sussex Safer Roads Partnership attended the 999 Display on Eastbourne’s seafront Western Lawns. Resident have had the chance to see emergency response vehicles, get on board a fire engine or ambulance, try out the hoses, see arena demonstrations from the police dogs, sea rescues from the coastguard, and speak face to face to colleagues from a range of emergency services.

With this year’s theme of ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ we hope to encourage people to be the change that we want to see and get involved in volunteering in whatever way works for them.

Read MoreOfficers from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) joined Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) working together to provide a day of education and enforcement. The activity was held on New Church Road, Hove – on Tuesday 18th of April, between 08:00-11:00, to mark Operation Close Pass day of action highlighting the importance of keeping at least the distance of another car (1.5m) away. This location was selected due to our data showing us that 50% of those killed and seriously injured on this road have been cyclists. This activity was aimed to increase awareness among other road users.
