Seven Deadly Sins Title

The Chief Fire Officers Association’s Road Safety Week will be taking place from 8 to 14 June 2015.

During this national week of activity, Fire and Rescue Services will be promoting targeted road safety messages focusing on the issue of young driver distraction.

Road collisions are still the leading cause of death for young adults between 15 and 19. We need to bring down this disproportionately high fatality rate and save young lives, raising awareness in young people, their peers, parents and influencers of the dangers and consequences of driver distraction.

Why this group?
This year’s CFOA Road Safety Week is focusing on young drivers and passengers being distracted. Young people are still disproportionately at risk on the roads and you are most at risk when you first start to drive.

Inexperienced drivers and distraction is a lethal cocktail.

While young people are used to multi-tasking, such as watching TV while texting and using the internet, they may not anticipate the danger of doing so whilst behind the wheel.
