Sussex Safer Roads Partnership supported Project EDWARD’s week of action May 15th – May 19th, the long-term objective of which is a road traffic system free from death and serious injury. Project Edward launched in Sussex on Monday 15th May 2023 with supporting the local Community SpeedWatch group in Storrington West Sussex as part of the Nationwide campaign to reduce Killed and Seriously Injured on our Roads.

BURGESS HILL MPTC OPEN DAY, YOUNG DRIVER FOCUS – MAY 2023

Sussex Safer Roads Partnership supported at the DVSA Driving Test Centre Open Day in Burgess Hill, on Saturday 13th of May, talking to all road users. The open day was for driving instructors, learner drivers, their families, and anyone with an interest in road safety, to have the opportunity to speak to road safety practitioners.

Operation Safe Pass, Day of Action – April 2023

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) joined Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) working together to provide a day of education and enforcement. The activity was held on New Church Road, Hove – on Tuesday 18th of April, between 08:00-11:00, to mark Operation Close Pass day of action highlighting the importance of keeping at least the distance of another car (1.5m) away. This location was selected due to our data showing us that 50% of those killed and seriously injured on this road have been cyclists. This activity was aimed to increase awareness among other road users.
