We appreciate you may have some questions about your upcoming course booking therefore we have compiled some frequently asked questions that may be of assistance to you.
How do I book my course?
Please click to visit the NDORs booking portal where you will be able to access your Course Offer details via: REGISTER: Entering the Reference Number & PIN from your Course Offer letter, or your Reference Number and entering your Driver Number in the PIN field instead of a PIN.
Do you still pay fine if you go on speed awareness course?
If you choose to take the course, and attend and complete it, you will not need to pay the fine and penalty points will not be added to your licence.
Is it possible to fail a speed awareness course?
When you’re considering accepting a National Speed Awareness Course offer, remember that it’s not a test, so there’s no passing or failing However you do have to complete the whole course and actively participate with the trainer.
Is using Zoom free for a speed awareness course?
In Sussex we operate professional zoom platform and therefore all our clients on course will automatically join our platform with the link, or meeting id and password. You do not need to make an account to join the meeting but will need to download the Zoom software/app which is free of charge.
How do I contact my course provider?
You can contact Sussex Driver Training by telephone on: 0330 222 8999, our telephone lines are open Monday to Friday 8.30am-4pm. Alternatively, you can email us at driver.training@westsussex.gov.uk at any time (please note this inbox will only be monitored periodically over the weekend and therefore it may take longer to get back to you)
What happens next?
After attending and successfully completing the course the date of course completion is recorded and held on a National Database. If you are involved in another road traffic incident, falling under the same criteria within 3 years of the course completion date, a second course will not be offered in lieu of proceedings.
What happens if I do not complete the course?
Some clients are unable to take up the course dates we offer; some change their mind and decide they do not want to attend a course after all; some find they are unable to pay in full in advance of attending; some clients only attend for part of their course. In such cases, we inform the police that we are unable to put the client through a course. The police will then continue with the prosecution. But in the first instance please contact our team on the number below to see what options are available to you.
I am struggling financially, are there any payment options?
We can offer a pay later option available ONLY via telephone bookings, in which you will not be required make payment at the time of booking but instead 10 clear working days in advance of your course booking. Depending on the timeframe given to you by the referring Police authority this option may assist you.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payment can be made via card online, or over the phone. However, if you wish to make payment via BACS please contact the office for further information.
I have additional needs I would like to make you aware of, so that you can make reasonable adjustments to my course?
Please let us know if have any additional needs in advance of your course so that we can take any necessary steps to best assist you with your course.
What Photographic ID do I need to show?
It is a condition of the course offer that you produce photographic identification. We can only accept original documents (electronic copies or photocopies cannot be accepted). You show them by holding them up to the camera when asked.
Examples of acceptable photographic ID:
- Photocard Driving Licence (an expired photocard does NOT invalidate the licence)
- A valid passport or expired passport – providing you are recognisable in the photo
- Formal ID Cards (armed forces, police, student union, company ID card)
- Tachograph Card Local Authority/Taxi ID
- Blue Badge (parking for people with disabilities):
- Firearms Certificate/Shotgun Licence
