Reporting an Incident
Here in Sussex we have Operation Crackdown which is a website for reporting anti social driving – New for 2018 we have added a “Close pass of Horses” category so that we can measure that amount of near misses we have with horses.
This will enable SSRP to evidence where we should be looking to carry out Safe Pass initiatives. You can report an incident in Sussex at www.operationcrackdown.org or directly through our Campaigns and Initiatives page on this site.
Please remember, best evidence of what has happend is to have video through a helmet cam. This will allow Operation Crackdwon to review the incident and deal with it appropriately.
For outside of Sussex – The British Horse Society has an accident reporting website, www.horseaccidents.org.uk, to try and build an accurate picture of some of the safety issues horse riders face whilst out riding. The site enables anyone involved in an equestrian related incident (not just the rider), regardless of whether they are a BHS member or not, to quickly and easily report their problems. This is the first and only website of its kind, making it even more imperative that we gain as much information about incidents as we are able to.
There are eleven reporting forms available. They are: Equestrian Related Road Incidents, Slippery Road Surfaces, Fireworks, Low Flying Aircraft, Dog Attacks, Wind Turbines, Gates, Cycles, Equine Transport accidents, Chinese Lanterns and Bird Scarers / Gas guns.
