Sussex Safer Roads Partnership attended Goodwood’s Motor Circuit’s Breakfast Club, ‘Anything but the Car’, on Sunday 2nd of October 2022! It was a very wet morning celebrating anything and everything but the car, showcasing the wonderful world of motoring, from motorbikes to tanks! We attended alongside West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, focusing on all things road safety!
SSRP @ GOODWOOD’S BREAKFAST CLUB – ‘ANYTHING BUT THE CAR’
With this months Breakfast Club’s theme being ‘Anything but the Car’ we saw absolutely everything and anything, but absolutely zero vehicles that one would class as a car. That means machines with three wheels, motorbikes, buses, lorries, military vehicles, and even a decommissioned fire vehicle. We learnt there really is nothing off the table at ‘Anything but the Car’ Sunday!

West Sussex Fire and Rescue’s, Community Prevention & Training Team Member, Nick worked the event and said:
“Another successful event held at Goodwood Motor Circuit working with our Partners from Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP). Despite the damp conditions, the ‘Anything But The Car’ Breakfast Club event was met with great optimism from a surprisingly large crowd in attendance. The weather didn’t dampen spirits, as we engaged with a great number of visitors where we had valuable conversations talking about safety messages such as the ‘Fatal 5’, right through to Bike Safe, Biker Down Workshops, cyclists concerns and distributing a fantastic number of ICE (In Case of Emergency) QR Stickers. As always a worthwhile event to show our presence to all road users of the county. The Community Prevention & Training team from WSFRS look forward to continuing to convey these key messages and initiatives to the public at future events alongside SSRP.”
Despite the weather, like Nick said, we saw a good footfall of motor enthusiasts who where keen to discuss their concerns and engage in discussions about all things road safety. This event sees a large number of keen motorcyclists who we promote out ICE Stickers too. Per mile travelled, motorcyclists are four times more likely to have a fatal incident compared to a cyclist, and 85 times more likely to be killed or seriously injured than someone driving a car (DfT, 2018).
If you would like and ICE Sticker just fill in the form online to request one today:
The team distributed over 85 ICE Stickers at this event – which is amazing! A big thank you to those that worked the event and to those that came along, we hope you had a fantastic morning. We are already looking forward to next months Breakfast Club ‘Vee-Power’ on Sunday 6th of November, find out more online at:
We hope to see you there!
