Sussex Police and Sussex Safer Roads Partnership conducted high visibility enforcement across the county.

As the weather has continued to improve, traffic volumes across Sussex have steadily increased in recent weeks. The May bank holiday weekend, with the hottest day of the year forecasted, promised to be a busy period for the road network. Sussex Police and SSRP set out a plan for effective community engagement, partnership working, and enforcement of road law to reduce collisions and the impact of noise and poor behaviour on local communities. Across the weekend, officers conducted speed checks across the county, engaging with drivers and local members of the community about the activities undertaken. The weekend was further supported by the SSRP Safety Camera team, who conducted speed enforcement in locations such as Bury Hil and Coldwaltham. High visibility patrols from all teams resulted in a number of offences detected, ranging from speed, no tax, expired licence, and illegal number plates.

Areas covered by the teams included: Tillington, Storrington, Henfield, Coldwaltham, Hassocks, Duncton, Littlehampton, Haywards Heath, Northiam, Rye and Arundel.

Sussex Police and Sussex Safer Roads Partnership would like to thank all road users who drove considerably and safely across the weekend.
