Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) has been out in support of the first ever National Young Rider Day which took place on Tuesday 27 June – when the focus across the country was on young motorcyclists.
Sussex Safer Roads Partnership joined SAFERIDE Motorcycle & Scooter Training School in Southwick to share road safety information and discuss concerns with young riders. Staff included representatives from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, Brighton and Hove County Council, and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, as well as SSRP’s Programme Delivery Officer.
We distributed various road safety literature, including our Safer For Motorcyclists booklets, First Bike magazines, and In Case of Emergency (ICE Stickers). As part of National Young Rider Day, we also promoted the New Rider Webinar, held the same evening. This was available nationwide, supporting those new to riding in areas including bike maintenance, personal protective equipment, and online training.
The event held in Southwick was successful, with many conversations held with young riders, and the resulting aim of increasing our level of interaction moving forward.
As a Partnership we continue to support the NYRF, a leading young motorcycle road support group. Their website and social media platforms are described as a central hub for all young riders to discover more about a variety of topics.
